Our 2nd Artist-in-Residence has blown us away – an amazing success!
From early morning to late in the evening – Muriel Buthier-Chartrain taught us to watch the clouds – the shape of the ocean and rocks –
memorizing the shapes and colours to experiment and test our skills, as we never imagined possible!
We all learnt an enormous amount – using the most wonderful soft brushes – water and colours of our French Artist!
Muriel’s Unique Style – a mix of watercolour wash and her specialty – an amazing granulation that she applies to discrete areas to add texture – has captured our hearts.
Not sparing in her lessons – Muriel has shown us many secrets – her techniques and approach to managing her water and colour!!
Some of us like – Artist Suzie Porter – took these lessons to heart and conquered the challenge!!
Some of us like myself – turned them into ‘Galactic Islands’ seeking the luminous light that Muriel captures so well!!
Lots to learn and practice!! 😀
Thanks to the marvelous support from Sekisui House and their Team – at the Yaroomba Design Centre, who hosted us for the second time this year –
we had an amazing light filled – beautiful space to work.
Muriel has set the standard for us!
Part scientist, her methods of tracking her colours and experiments with her medium are second to none!
Her hand notes – as inviting to us as her art pieces!!
taking our unique Australian Landscapes and transposing them in a flash!
Our Norfolk Pines and the colours of our water as the storms roll over.
Unfazed even by the WIN 9 Camera’s
Tackling subject such as the bark of our Eucalyptus Trees she has never seen before!
Incorporating her unique techniques to a totally new subjects!!
We have to say farewell – and thanks to Muriel and her partner Gilles for a fantastic experience!
A unique couple – Gilles Chef and Artist Muriel!!
We look forward to perhaps visiting you both in France soon!!
And, thanks to the amazing support that we have received from our Partners and Sponsors who have totally made this ‘Year of Artist in Residence’ 2016 Possible!
