Description
Blue Skies – Soft Sand – Coastal Banksia
MaimeriBlu Watercolors and Pigment Ink – 38 x 56 cm
300gsm Moulin du Roy cold pressed watercolour paper
For this Artwork, I’ve been experimenting with the beautiful vibrant colours of MaimeriBlu Paints and this week let loose on a subject close to my heart.
As a girl coming to Queensland and then settling here, these amazing twisted branches of the Coastal Banksia – crowned with the soft brush of their flower, has almost a velvet centre and have been for me the symbol of a visit to the beach – the sight and touch of summer!
The MaimeriBlu Paints have wonderful vibrancy – ‘Blu Primario Cyan’ flows across the paper with the perfect hue of an Australian summer sky. Mixing this with ‘Giallo Permanente Limone’ and ‘Rosso Primario Magenta’ as my 3 base colours for this work made me feel I was already back on the beach walking the dunes! ?
Not only that – having been invited and given the honour to Lead the Australian Watercolour Delegation to FabrianoInAcquarello – Italy 2019 I was intrigued and inspired to be using some Italian paints – I’m looking forward more and more to my travels to Fabriano this coming year 2020 to discover more!
