Swedish Artist – Jonas Pettersson

Living in a remote township in Sweden – Jonas has evolved his interest in bringing people together through various means of communication and his Workshop has been a space to integrate his passion for art and robotics!

Jonas is passionate about breaking down isolation – he is keen to build bridges between his art practice and opportunities to use modern tech to open communication windows!

Digital – New Media – 2D and Music – a Week of collaboration to grow your Studio Practice to new platforms and opportunities. Jonas is a Digital and Microcomputer maker – and has spent over 10 years as a new media teacher at art school using video, web, digital photo, sound installations and some robotics.

Jonas’s Artwork

Jonas’s artwork shows the balance of his studio practice between new media and traditional techniques including the use experimental tools such as salt, crackle paste or hot air lifting techniques. Workshop Participants in – Workshop I – will have the benefit of experimenting with Cyanotype Print techniques – with all materials provided for this!

We will also be able to talk with Jonas and build relationships across the day to increase our understanding of Art practices in Sweden and the type of activities that form the basis of Swedish Art!

We will have a large screen running during the Workshops which will showcase Jonas’s Studio/Exhibition Space and also some of his wonderful free form digital film and music that is another angle of Jonas Art Practice!

More About Jonas Pettersson

Jonas is an experimental Artist and Digital and Microcomputer engineer and maker – and has spent over 10 years as a new media teacher at art school using video, web, digital photo, sound installations and some robotics. Jonas has showcased his Artwork with Fish Lane Studios since 2015 and currently works closely with the amazing prestigious Nordic Watercolour Museumwhich is an artist workshop and research facility in Skärhamn on the island of Tjörn in Sweden, opened in 2000.

In 2010 the ICOM (International Council of Museums) and the RSM (Riksförbundet Sveriges Museer) declared the Nordic Watercolour Museum ‘ Museum of the Year’.

The Museum currently supports the work Jonas is doing and provide him with opportunities to showcase his robotics and we are hoping to have permission to create a link with the Museum via – Jonas’s remote communicating robotics during the time of his Art Residency here in Australia at Yaroomba Beach – Queensland!

The Nordic Watercolour Museum share this passion – also incorporating into their programs at the museum – telepresence robotics to go out to people in elder livings, schools etc. and show their exhibitions remotely! Just one component of their innovative programs!
