B Ed., Dip. Teaching, Dip. Art & Design

Lives in Maleny, Queensland

‘I love working with abstract ideas and images based on landscape, ancient culture and elements of design, especially line and texture. I try to translate the ‘essence’ of the inspiration onto canvas, into jewellery or into a’ book’ form.

My working materials are often discarded objects which have their own history and contribute energy to the art work. They are simple, honest and noble elements which reflect the ‘wabi sabi’ philosophy of Zen Buddhism. The work evolves further as viewers add their own interpretations to the pieces, forging links between myself, the objects, viewers, and the eternal creative energy source’.

I have been a professional artist for the past 20 years, producing paintings, jewellery and fibre based art works for exhibitions in Australia and overseas.

I have had several solo exhibitions locally, at the Noosa Regional Gallery and in several Victorian Galleries in the 1990’s. I have been part of a great many group exhibitions locally, regionally, interstate, and overseas [mainly Japan, Korea and China].

I have won many awards over the years and have received several government grants to further my studies and to exhibit in Australia and overseas. In 2013, my work in the Flying Arts Traveling exhibition was awarded first prize, and I was a finalist in the SCAP Award.
